At Techstars my former colleague Saba Karim (Head of Pipeline @ Techstars) wanted to host an event that would #givefirst to local entrepreneurs. For 9 months we invited various members of the community to come together on Monday nights to help aspiring entrepreneurs with their pitch.
We had people who have been through IPO, the soccer mom who is pursuing building her first business, and the college dropout. It was beautiful to never know who was going to show up and be a part of the discussion.
With each event, we had people who returned with a stronger pitch and captivating energy. My favorite startups that were pitched were from some exchange students from Kenya who randomly decided to come one night. Today, those students have become dear friends I'll be in Kenya soon.
